St Patricks Day Recap
The St. Patrick's Day Fundraiser for the Taft Culinary and Arts programs was a lot of fun, and a great success. Just before 5pm, the Eagles Lodge started filling up. At one point we had a line at the front door with excited patrons waiting to get in. The students were running a little behind, but when we started to bring out more tables- the food started coming out.
What really impressed us with the student's efforts was how they went about preparing for the dinner event. They did do some prepping at the school in the
days leading up to the event. It would have been very easy to just make an assembly line and start putting plates out in a banquet fashion. But, they did not do this. Some of the students were designated to run the kitchen and others to run the front of the house. The servers went and greeted each table, explained the menu, took orders, and relayed it to the kitchen. The kitchen staff plated each meal (corned beef and cabbage, green beans with parsley cream sauce, vegetarian stew, red potatoes, and some french bread). The servers then served the entire table when all the plates were ready. While waiting guests got to listen to the country and rock tunes of the June Rushing Band. No one ran short of drinks as the awesome bartenders were mixing and serving festive drinks.
We raised over $1000 for the Taft students for the evening. A majority went to the Culinary kids, and the rest went to the Art program which had pieces for sale on display, along with t-shirts to purchase.
A big thank you to the Eagles Lodge for hosting the event, and letting the place get taken over for the evening. Thank you those who donated food for the event: The Side Door Cafe with their extra generous donation of the corned beef and Ken Legula (the Franz Man) for donating the french bread. Also, great work behind the bar from Eagles Member, Gordon.
We are excited to start brainstorming for the next fun event. The Home Oregon Coast Real Estate Team is proud to have the means to sponsor events such as this, and stay posted for the next one. Thank you to our wonderful community for always being so supportive of events such as this.
